Just today I have learned about Amanda Todd, a young girl from Canada who was found dead at her home. I'll just write a short summary for those that are unaware of the story. Amanda's struggle basically started when she started to chat online. Guys would compliment her, especially one guy (who I believe was an older man) who asked to see her topless. One time was enough as a year later he messaged her on Facebook (an account she never gave to him) threatening her that he'll send the pictures of her being topless to her family and friends if she doesn't perform a show for him. He knew the names of her family and friends, he knew what school she went to and where she lived as well. During Christmas break she had a knock on her door by the cops as the news came that he sent the picture of her topless images to everyone. She fell into depression, anxiety and got panic attacks and eventually started cutting herself. She moved and spiraled down as she got into drugs and alcohol. A year later and the guy enters her life again as he got new names of her friends, and what school she goes to. This guy created a Facebook account as her chest being his profile pic, which resulted in her friends leaving her and all the respect people had for her being destroyed. She changed schools and moved but the bullying started to get out of hand as people started to trick her. She got beat, she drank bleach and as she was saved by doctors, the very kids that were bullying her started to post messages how she should've drank a different bleach in hopes that it kills her.
So that's basically a summary, I tried to write as much details as possible while still trying to keep it short. I tend to write my blog entries about stuff that really impacts me in some way and when I read a news article about this online and seen a news story about this on Youtube, something didn't make much sense to me at all.
Everyone blames the students at the school. Yes they bullied her and nobody deserves to be bullied but the students were only a chain linked to something prior. I'm surprised that with so many cop and investigating shows like CSI out there, that nobody came to the conclusion of who is truly to blame for this. Countless upon countless of hate is going towards these teens that should actually be targetted towards someone else.
Why is nobody trying to find this guy?
Why is nobody questioning how he knew her personal info?
Why is nobody trying to look at her computer and see her chat logs with this guy and try to get an address or something to see where this guy could be?
What if he does the same thing to some other girl out there?
This is a girl that talked about standing up to bullies and telling parents to give emotional support to their kids. Just the fact that she would say such things proves that she's a fighter. I do not believe that she would've just wanted some anti-bullying message to unfold after her death, I believe that she would want the chain that caused her death unhooked. The guy that started all of this should be found for he is the one responsible for her death. There are plenty of guys on chatrooms asking a girl to go topless or naked on cam, but when they see a girl isn't interested, they go to someone else. Amanda might have been an easy target for this guy as he might have known how to manipulate her emotions and she might not have been aware of all the dangers that can come through the internet. But it takes a rare breed of human to go as far as he went. This wasn't some random creep that just wanted to see a topless girl. This guy knew her family names, her friends names, her school address and even her home address. And even when she moved and disconnected her ties with him, he still managed to know all her new information. How is that possible? Did she continue to talk to him but failed to mention that in fear that she might be in trouble of giving a stranger such private information? Was this guy a hacker or maybe a police man since he easily knew her life info? Why isn't anyone trying to get to the bottom of this?
My last question is this, if she was found dead at her home, this would mean that nobody was around when she supposedly killed herself. How would anyone know if she truly done it herself, was forced to do it or if someone else killed her?
I only wonder how many kids must die in order for people to understand that it's the predators that should be found. Letting them go and creating anti-bullying campaign does no justice. For in my eyes Amanda didn't commit suicide, she was murdered by this internet predator.
